About Full Grain Leather

Full grain leather is the highest quality leather available. It is made from the top layer of the hide and retains its natural surface, including unique markings and grain patterns. These natural characteristics are not flaws—they are what make every piece one of a kind.
Unlike corrected or “genuine” leather, full grain leather is not sanded or heavily treated. This keeps the fibres strong, durable, and long-lasting. Over time, it develops a beautiful patina, meaning your piece will age naturally and become even more personal with use.
At Younikat, we exclusively use full grain leather, either vegetable tanned or chrome tanned, depending on the design and purpose of the piece.
• Vegetable tanned leather is tanned using natural tannins from plants and tree bark. It has a firm feel, rich character, and ages slowly with a deep, warm patina.
• Chrome tanned leather is softer and more flexible, offering durability and colour stability while still maintaining the strength of full grain leather.Because we work with natural materials, no two pieces will ever look exactly the same—each one carries its own story, texture, and character.
